My 13 year old beagle was just diagnosed with arthritis - what actually helped your senior dog

Duke got his diagnosis at his checkup yesterday. i knew something was up because he'd been slower to get up in the mornings and stopped jumping onto the couch (which he has done every morning for 12 years without fail). the vet confirmed moderate arthritis in his back hips and one front shoulder.

he's otherwise healthy for his age - good weight, heart sounds good, eating well, still gets excited for walks even if he can't go as far anymore. the vet started him on glucosamine supplements and said to watch how he does over the next couple months.

i'm not panicking but i want to make sure i'm doing everything i can to keep him comfortable. wondering what people who've gone through this actually found helpful - supplements, food changes, physical therapy, specific pain management, anything. i've been reading but real experience from people who've been here is more useful than any article right now
