5-month husky drags me down the street - tried everything, nothing sticking
I knew huskies were energetic when I got Luna but I genuinely did not prepare for this level of leash pulling. She's 5 months old, about 35 lbs already, and walks like she's trying to win the Iditarod with me attached. I've tried stopping dead when she pulls, I've tried changing direction every time, I've tried the treat-at-my-hip method. She does great for like 30 seconds and then forgets I exist.
I've been using a regular flat collar which my neighbor said might be the problem. She said to try a front-clip harness or head halter. I ordered a front-clip harness and it helped maybe 20% which is something I guess, but I honestly expected more. My wrist has been sore for two weeks and the walks feel like a wrestling match instead of something we both enjoy.
Is this just a husky thing I have to wait out? Should I be doing shorter more focused training sessions instead of full walks? I feel like I'm failing her somehow because she seems frustrated too when we stop all the time.
