Vet AdvicePosted by labmom_bailey5

Anyone else feel weird about how aggressive vet upselling has gotten?

Took my 5 year old lab Bailey for her annual yesterday and walked out of there with a $640 bill and a recommendation list i didnt ask for. Dental scaling under anesthesia ($800), prescription joint diet ($95/bag), a senior wellness panel they said was "highly recommended" for her age. She's literally the picture of health, no symptoms, normal weight, totally fine.

I dont know if im being unreasonable but it felt less like a vet visit and more like a sales pitch. Like every part of the conversation circled back to a service or a product. The vet seemed nice but the tech kept coming in with brochures and a tablet showing me payment plans.

Is this just normal vet practice now? I've been seeing the same clinic for 8 years and i swear it didnt used to be like this. Considering shopping around but nervous about losing her medical history. Anyone else dealing with this or am i just getting old and grumpy.
