Biscuit's spring shedding is completely out of hand - normal??

My 3-year-old golden Biscuit has been leaving fur EVERYWHERE this past month. I vacuum literally every day and the couch still looks like it has a fur lining. This morning i found a tumbleweed under the coffee table that was genuinely the size of a softball.

Is spring blowout season really this intense with goldens? I can pull handfuls of fur off him and he just stands there wagging like he thinks he's doing me a favor. We brush him twice a week but I'm starting to wonder if that's nowhere near enough.

Any tips besides daily vacuuming? Does it ever let up, or is this just my life now with a double-coated dog?
