Dog obsessed with one specific person - jealousy issues

My german shepherd has decided my wife is the only human that matters. He follows her everywhere, whines when she leaves the room, and literally pushes between us on the couch.

When I try to hug my wife he squeezes in. When she pets another dog he loses it. Its kind of cute but also kind of a problem.

Is this normal GSD behavior? How do we balance this out?
