My golden keeps stealing socks - is this just a breed thing?

So Biscuit (3-year-old golden) has this thing where he steals exactly one sock from the laundry basket and carries it around the house for like 20 minutes before dropping it. He doesn't chew it, doesn't destroy it, just... holds it. We've started calling it his "comfort sock."

I've heard goldens are mouthy and like to carry stuff but is the sock-hoarding specifically a golden thing or is my dog just weird? He also does it when we get home from work, always grabs a sock to greet us with.

Kinda curious if other golden owners deal with this lol. He looks so proud of himself every time.
