My 2yo aussie tore up the kitchen the one day i went to the office, is this separation anxiety or a one time thing?
So i went back to the office for the first time in like 14 months yesterday. We got Banjo as a covid puppy and ive been wfh basically the whole time hes been alive. He does fine when i run errands for 30-90 minutes, ive tested that. So i thought a full work day would just be longer version of that. Lol. Lmao.
I came home to a chewed up corner of the kitchen island, his crate door bent (we crate him because of resource guarding with our older dog), pee on the floor in 3 spots, and a busted blind in the living room. He looked exhausted and one of his canine teeth was actually a little bloody from chewing on something he shouldnt have. My stomach dropped seeing all of it.
Now im trying to figure out if this is real separation anxiety or just an extreme version of "he had a rough day with no practice." I dont have to be in the office every day, but i will need to be there 2-3 days a week starting next month. Has anyone been through this? Did your dog adjust on their own or did you need to do actual training/meds? I dont want to mess this up and have it become a permanent thing.
Hes never been to daycare, ill admit that. Im wondering if i should just sign him up rather than try to fix the home behavior. Just stuck on what the right move is here.
