My golden keeps jumping on guests - is this a phase or do we have a real problem?

so bear (my 14 month old golden) has this habit of jumping on literally everyone who comes through the door. he does it to us too but its way worse with guests. he gets SO excited and just launches himself at people. knocked my mom over last week and she's 68 so i was genuinely scared.

we've been doing the "turn your back" thing and it works maybe 40% of the time? when he calms down he's perfect. sits nicely, takes treats gently, very sweet. but that initial 2 minute burst of chaos is embarrassing and honestly kind of dangerous now that he's 65 lbs.

is this just a golden thing at this age or is there something specific i should be doing? our trainer is on maternity leave and i dont want to wait 3 months to address this
