Switched my lab to raw diet - here is what happened after 3 months
Okay so I know raw feeding is kind of a hot topic here but i figured id share my experience since i spent like 6 months reading about it before committing. My 4-year-old lab Goose had been on kibble his whole life and was doing fine, but he had chronic ear infections (like every 2-3 months) and his coat was kinda dull and he had really bad gas lol.
We switched to raw about 3 months ago. Chicken backs and necks, some beef, sardines twice a week, raw eggs, and a bit of organ meat. I weigh everything on a kitchen scale and follow a rough 80/10/10 ratio (meat/bone/organ).
After 3 months: zero ear infections so far, his coat is actually shiny now which is kind of amazing, and the gas is basically gone. He also seems way more interested in food and has way more energy on walks. Poops are smaller and less smelly too which is a nice bonus for me lol. The main downside is prep time and cost - it runs about $180/month vs $65 for kibble. Not sure if ill stick with it forever but the results have been hard to argue with.
