Thinking about switching Maple to raw - what do i actually need to know first
Maple is 10 months old and has been on a mid-range kibble since we brought her home. she does fine on it, coat looks good, energy is great, no obvious issues. but i keep seeing people talk about raw feeding and all these before and after pictures with shinier coats and better muscle tone and i'm curious whether it's actually worth it or whether it's one of those things that sounds better than it is.
i'm not opposed to the work involved - i'm already cooking most of my own meals and a little extra food prep doesn't scare me. what i'm more worried about is doing it wrong. i've read conflicting things about whether you need supplements, how much bone is too much bone, whether it's safe to handle regularly without getting sick yourself. there's so much information out there and a lot of it contradicts itself.
if you've made the switch, what do you wish someone had told you before you started? and is there anything that would make you NOT recommend it for a young healthy dog?
