Switched my 14-year-old to fresh food 2 months ago and the difference is honestly wild
My lab-mix Chester is 14. For most of his life I fed him whatever mid-range kibble was on sale at the grocery store. Not proud of it but that was reality. About two months ago my vet said his kidney numbers were creeping up and recommended we look at a lower phosphorus diet and see if fresh food might be easier for him to digest at his age.
I was skeptical honestly. My nephew had tried those subscription meal services for his dog and seemed more like a money grab than a health thing. But I figured Chester deserved whatever time and energy I could give him so I tried it.
Two months in and I genuinely can't believe the difference. He's less stiff getting up in the mornings. His coat is noticeably softer. He actually gets excited when I set his bowl down now, which hadn't happened in like two years. His last bloodwork came back with slightly improved kidney numbers. I'm not claiming it's a miracle cure - he's still 14 and we know how this goes eventually. But those extra tail wags in the morning are worth every cent.
