Week 2 with our lab puppy - things no one warned me about

We brought home Moose (8 week old black lab) 12 days ago and wow. Just wow. I read so many "puppy prep" articles and still was not prepared for this creature. Love him to pieces but I need to vent a little.

Things no one explicitly told me: 1) They bite EVERYTHING including your actual face, 2) the crate crying at 2am is genuinely heartbreaking even when you know you have to ignore it, 3) puppies have basically no off switch - it's either 100mph chaos or passed out cold, nothing in between. And 4) apparently my shoes were their enemy this whole time and I just didn't know it.

We're making progress. He slept through til 5am last night which felt like winning the lottery. Potty training is going okay-ish. But man the puppy blues are real - i kept asking myself "what did we do" the first few days. Anyone else go through that? It does get better right?
