Week 3 with our new puppy - some honest thoughts

We brought home our 9-week-old lab mix Rutherford three weeks ago and I wanted to share an honest update because honestly, the first week was way harder than I expected. everyone said "enjoy every moment!" but no one mentioned the 3am crying or the fact that a puppy can generate that much pee.

Week one: survival mode. We barely slept. Rutherford screamed in his crate every single night. i cried twice. my husband slept on the couch next to the crate. we fought about whose idea this was (mine, so i lost that argument).

Week two: started to click. he made it through the night twice. we figured out he likes a shirt that smells like us in the crate. the biting is still insane but we finally found a chew he actually likes - a frozen Kong with peanut butter.

Week three: honestly? we're in love. he learned "sit" in one afternoon. he's sleeping 6-7 hours. i still have bite marks up my arms but im smiling about it now. if youre in week one, it does get better. it really does.
